He was born and grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Only attended school untill age 15 and dropped out to work at his uncle's store
O. Henry was charged with embezzling funds from the First National Bank of Austin in Texas in 1896
While in prison he started to write Short stories.
When he was released from prison, O. Henry moved to New York City in 1901
He published over 500 short stories
One of O. Henry’s most famous stories was “The Gift of the Magi”`
He was considered one of the best story writers of his time
He died in the year 1910
